A creamy Brazilian shrimp stew thickened with mashed cassava and enriched with coconut milk and dendê oil. The cassava is boiled soft and blended into a purée that gives the stew its body, so no flour or cream is needed. It belongs to the same Bahian family as moqueca and vatapá, and the shrimp go in near the end so they stay firm.
